Robins & Morton Breaks Ground on Two AdventHealth Freestanding Emergency Departments in Florida

AdventHealth Heathbrook ER groundbreaking

Construction firm Robins & Morton joined AdventHealth this spring to break ground on two freestanding emergency departments in Florida.

A groundbreaking ceremony for AdventHealth State Road 207 ER was held March 25 for what will be AdventHealth’s first facility in St. Johns County.

The 14,500-square-foot, 12-bed emergency department, set to open in early 2026, will provide the latest in medical technology.

“St. Johns County is one of the fastest-growing areas in Florida, and with growth comes a responsibility,” said David Weis, President and CEO of AdventHealth operations in East Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns counties. “We’re not just building a facility – we’re investing in the people and families who call this community home. This ER will bring high-quality, compassionate care right where it’s needed.”

A groundbreaking ceremony for AdventHealth Heathbrook ER was held April 2 in Ocala.

The 14,500-square-foot, 12-bed facility, scheduled to open in early 2026, will include a bariatric room, an isolation room, as well as an obstetrics-friendly room and pediatric-friendly rooms.

“Marion County is growing at a rapid pace, making it essential to continue to ensure our community has access to expert emergency care when they need it most,” said Erika Skula, president and CEO of AdventHealth Ocala. “At AdventHealth, we’re ready to provide these essential services as part of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ and provide exceptional whole-person care to people who live, work and visit our community. We’re delighted to take this latest step and further grow our footprint here.”

“The groundbreaking of these facilities celebrates our long-term partnership with AdventHealth and reflects our commitment to enhancing both patient and healthcare worker experiences,” Robins & Morton Division Manager Todd Watson said. “We look forward to implementing thoughtful, efficient, and quality-driven construction on these projects.”

Robins & Morton is the general contractor for the projects. HuntonBrady is the architect.
